The whole thing reminds me of the vaping thing, where first vaping was great because it reduced tobacco smoking and then once it became popular they found all sorts of reasons why vaping was bad too.
Actually I should extend my first sentence. If these bansturbators can't bansturbate they lose income from governments etc. because they are out of a job, which in a just world they should be.
This is a repeat of the 'Tobacco control' playbook (neatly copied from the tobacco industry at its most evil).
Not only do they hate the industry and anyone who drinks any alcohol, but they hate alcohol free alternatives and anyone involved in that, too, framing it as a plot to sell more alcohol. The same as THR products that replace deadly smoking, with 95% (or better) unlikely to be deadly vapes or pouches, etc.
The War on Smoking is the "mother of modern paternalism," and state regulators, academics, & medical organizations are using the same playbook that anti-smokers have so successfully used in their anti-drinking campaign. Like anti-smoking activists they are unscrupulous & opportunistic.
Will we ever get a government that will tell these grifting busy bodies to FO and terminate all their public funding?
I'm reading this in the pub with a glass in my hand. Not unhappy with that.
Bansturbators gotta bansturbate.

The nanny state continues its absurd attempts to control our behaviour. It’s enough to drive one to drink.
