Prohibition. That old favourite that has had such a long history of success.

I and many others share your incredulity and anger at the relentless persecution of smokers, now vapers, by the overweening bully nanny Australian state. Repeated logically argued representations to the faceless bureaucrats who dictate prohibitionist policies are ignored, even when lodged in compliance with the restrictive "consultation" website. It is a sham and an affront to personal autonomy and individual lifestyle choices, as you well articulate. See for example this submission, posted without comment or response to the cogent issues raised, followed soon after by the latest "obey" diktats. https://consultations.health.gov.au/atodb/national-tobacco-strategy-2022-2030/consultation/view_respondent?_b_index=360&uuId=436631048

Isn't it curious that the countries that most trumpet freedom and individual rights seem to be the most probitionist? Good piece - I had forgotten about Chapman - is it possible that he is a true believer? Prohibition truly is a religion - same dismissal of evidence.

Critiques of policy don't get more devastating than this. This sort of stupidity must be in the ether down there.
