"We only have Monbiot's word for this, but I believe him. His anti-meat stance is well known and I have no reason to think he is not sincere."

I'm not so sure. In this article, he not only endorses meat consumption, but says that cattle should be fed on grass.

As a close observer of Guardianism, I'd say it is more likely that he is just swaying to align himself with The Standard Liberal Opinion of the day, rather doing as his paymasters command, but we do have the receipts necessary to accuse him of bad faith.

Just because you can use Monbiot-style "who funds you" fallacies against Monbiot himself, doesn't suddenly mean it's logically valid to do so.

I don't think there are many people out there who are generally saying things they don't believe for money, simply because constructing an argument for an opinion you don't personally believe is something that most people are pretty bad at.

This article by George Monbiot is highly entertaining. He seems to have gone full conspiracy theorist and is raving about the evil IEA and it's 'dark money'. He doesn't seem to understand that anyone could legitimately disagree with him.
